About the Founder

Adam White is a resident of Oshawa. He is an artist, entrepreneur, accessibility advocate, and community enthusiast. He is hard of hearing and lives with a rare genetic neurological disease called Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2).

Adam created Emporium of I and I on March 28, 2011, as a social business and knowledge marketplace experiment for the arts community to connect and create art hives and mini miracles. Adam was one of the first members of The Vault that launch in 2012. He would help revive it in trying times in early 2014 by seeking new management that rebranded it as The Open Vault.

Adam ran for Mayor of Oshawa in 2014. He would not win, but it was a great experience that when you put your mind to it – big things can be done.

He has served as a member of the Oshawa Accessibility Advisory Committee (OAAC) from 2015-2017. He also Chaired the OAAC Communication Subcommittee from 2015-2016. On September 20, 2016, Durham Region’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, held a the Joint Forum of all Accessibility Advisory Committees from each Municipality, Here, Adam was presented with a 2016 Durham Region Accessibility Award for his accessibility and community leadership in Oshawa..

Adam was the Oshawa Torch bearer for the 2015 Toronto Para Pan Games at Lake View Park. He was able to have company with the Governor General of Canada to share in this feat.



On December 16, 2017, Adam received a “Certificate of Appreciation” – in recognition of his outstanding contributions made to the community in Oshawa as Canada celebrated its 150th Anniversary of Confederation.
